What is a Thigh Lift?

Thigh lift surgery will remove excess fat and skin that you may have, giving you the nicely sculpted thighs you have always desired.

The thighs are one of the primary locations where fat and cellulite accumulate. Dieting and exercise may help you reverse some of this, but it will not eliminate stubborn pockets of fat and stretched skin.

Who Is a Candidate for Thigh Lift Surgery?

Thigh lift surgery is a suitable body sculpting treatment for individuals who are unhappy with the shape and size of their thighs. It is usually performed on post-bariatric surgery patients who wish to eliminate excess skin left over after massive weight loss. Individuals considering the surgery must be in good general health and close to their ideal weight. We will carefully review your candidacy for the procedure during a one-on-one consultation.

Recovering from Thigh Lift Surgery

The good news with procedures like thigh lift and arm lift is that the results are visible right away. After the surgery, you will experience bruising, swelling, and soreness for a few days. These are minimized with pain medication, bandages, and proper at-home aftercare. The swelling generally subsides over a period of three to five weeks. Gauze is used to cover the incisions to keep them safe and dry. Full recovery is achieved within six weeks of surgery. During this period, we will be at your disposal at all times to answer your questions and guide you through the healing process.

What to Expect the Day of Surgery

When performing thigh lift surgery, the plastic surgeon focuses on removing any excess fat and sagging skin. The thigh lift surgery technique and incision location that he chooses to use will depend on which part of the thigh needs to be reshaped.

  • An inner thigh lift involves incisions in the groin fold.
  • A vertical thigh lift involves an incision that starts at the groin crease and extends down to the knee.
  • Outer thigh lift requires an incision that starts at the groin and extends around the hip to correct sagging of the outer and mid-thigh.

During the procedure, excess skin is removed and the remaining skin and tissue are lifted and sutured in place. The surgery may be combined with liposuction to remove excess fat.

The surgery is performed at an accredited outpatient surgical center under general anesthesia. In some cases, several surgery techniques are combined for the best results. The length of surgery greatly depends on your treatment plan, and on the complexity of the procedure.
